The Central IGA Cadell Country Fair is an annual event always held on the Saturday prior to Melbourne Cup Day (first Tuesday in November).
The Fair is held on the picturesque Mathoura Visitor and Business Centre lawns, with a wide variety of market stalls and activities, including sheep dog trials, live music, vintage car display, wine tasting, food and drink, tarot card readings and an alpaca display. In the past, there has been wood chopping and chainsaw sculpture deomonstrations and performing ducks!
The Fair always places great emphasis on kids activities, with a dedicated Kid's Corner, including plenty of competitions, games, dancing and giveaways.
The Fair also incorporates the Mathoura Pioneer Cemetery Tour, the popular Garden Tour, Forest Tours and dinner and entertainment at the Mathoura Bowling Club on the Saturday night.
