Planning

The Planning Department of Council provides services to ensure that developments are initially appropriate and are maintained to acceptable standards to meet the overall aims of the Shire in the management of its resources.

The Planning Department investigate and advise Council on development applications received by the Council for new developments.

Over the years, Council has not been afraid to challenge conventional thinking in respect of development where there are benefits to the area. Council encourages development and assists where possible.

Development Control Plan

What is a DCP?

A Development Control Plan, or DCP, is a document and/or plans that seek to influence the manner in which land uses and development is undertaken in a particular area.

How does the DCP fit in with other planning instruments?

The DCP complements Council's Local Environmental Plan (LEP), which provides the statutory basis by way of zones and other controls upon which planning decisions are made.

Council's DCP can be accessed under Development Guides in the lefthand navigation bar.
